Do your actions align with your goals?
Recently, an executive leadership organization came to Pariveda with something of a problem. With a global presence in more than 130 countries and more growth on the horizon, they were finding it increasingly difficult to make sure that their internal IT organization was strategically aligned with their actual long-term goals. Not only did they need to make sure that these assets were effectively leveraged, but there was also an urgent need to mitigate as much risk as possible from two struggling IT projects — both of which had incurred significant delays and budget overruns. From a long-term perspective, they needed to position their IT infrastructure in a way that would allow them to become the future source of innovation they needed.
Gauge maturity to increase effectiveness and mitigate risk
During a targeted six-week engagement, Pariveda team members used a multi-layered approach to evaluate the overall IT capabilities within the client's organization, as well as to assess the risk mitigation options for the aforementioned struggling projects.
Our team members applied Pariveda's proprietary IT Effectiveness Scorecard, which was designed to measure 10 primary capability dimensions across 36 sub-dimensions to gauge, not only IT organizational maturity level, but to make sure that the client's IT was where it needed to be at this stage in their life cycle.
Our team also executed Pariveda's Project Health Check on the two struggling projects, allowing all involved to gain better visibility into the current health of the projects and zero in on the key risks that were present — all while providing better recommendations for course correction moving forward.
Holistic opportunities builds partnerships
At the end of the engagement, Pariveda team members were able to confidently recommend better and more holistic opportunities to position the client's IT organization to meet the challenges of today while readying themselves for the demands of tomorrow. These included a better strategy to offload non-core commodity services currently provided by the IT organization, a stronger IT/business partnership, more focused activities necessary to address maturity gaps in key effectiveness roles and more.
Pariveda produced a project health scorecard and a series of practical recommendations that the client was able to quickly act upon, giving them a chance to course correct their highly visible, overdue and over-budget projects in the most-effective ways possible.
