When is it time to make the move?
Recently, an industry leading investment firm client developed a need to migrate their existing intranet functionality over to SharePoint, which would be the basis of developing a brand new site for their business unit. The previous intranet platform was a version of a Vignette product, which unfortunately was going out of support. Rather than creating the site for the new business unit on an end-of-life platform, it would be far better to build one with an eye towards the future instead. The new intranet needed to have a corporate governance structure in place prior to launch, and the look and feel of the sites needed to be highly customized — almost to the point of being ready for public facing.
Produce encompassing plan for new intranet
Pariveda worked with the client to complete the Intranet Roadmap project. They were able to assess, strategize and plan for enterprise-wide intranet development and deployment. Pariveda performed an extensive series of interviews with business and IT executives to better determine their needs and to organically understand the current environment. A wide range of deliverables was created during the project, including but not limited to things like a Current Environment Assessment, a Governance Model, an Information Architecture, Functional Specifications, an Infrastructure Design, a Backup and Recovery Reference and a Proposed Implementation Plan.
Intranet meets current and future needs
During the course of this engagement, Pariveda worked closely with key stakeholders to demonstrate the capabilities of the new intranet platform. Many new ideas were incorporated as a result. Flash forward to today, and the client has been able to successfully leverage the roadmap to implement the enterprise-wide intranet solution with Pariveda's help. The client has used the documents produced in this engagement as references and living documents to assist in implementation, support and governance of their enterprise wide intranet. Because branding was very important to the client, Pariveda also implemented a highly custom look and feel elevating the client's brand.
