The team at Pariveda selected ElasticSearch for “fuzzy search” functionality, as well as a sophisticated geo-based indexing for building location-based queries. Using Amazon Elastic MapReduce (Hadoop) allowed us to store the running history of all inventory pricing data, which in itself put the client in a better position to identify pricing and trends based on a detailed historical analysis.
Personalized pricing expands business globally
Now that the solution itself is live, the travel company’s own clients can now perform a “fuzzy search” to return all of the best deals that match a loose set of criteria much faster and more efficiently than ever before. At the same time, the solution returns personalized deals based on the user’s geographic location — thus allowing the travel company to check a number of important boxes all at the same time.
The solution was so successful that it has already expanded to over 20 regions around the world, with more being planned for deployment in the not-too-distant future. Thanks to the newfound level of scalability that this also provides, continued expansion will be absolutely nothing to worry about.
