Phillip Manwaring’s consulting experience encompasses a broad range of industries, technologies, and practices. Phillip uses his background in business and economics to develop a deep understanding of clients’ core business needs in order to architect and deliver solutions that provide lasting value by addressing problems and creating opportunities at the source. Most recently he has been helping enterprises adopt serverless and cloud solutions at scale through a focus on process improvement and foundational operational capabilities such as CI/CD, automation, infrastructure as code, and the use of 3rd party managed services.
Since joining Pariveda in 2011 Phillip has worked in a variety of industries including specialty insurance, retail energy, payment processing, specialty pharmacy, public education, and union representation. Project work has included architecting and developing custom software solutions, creating enterprise strategy roadmaps, and managing small- to medium-sized project teams. His primary area of expertise and focus is in architecting, building, and operating cloud-native applications using serverless technologies and practices. Recent project deliverables have included a real-time fraud detection engine for payment processing capable of handling 10,000+ events/second, serverless reference architectures and starter projects tailored for a client’s common uses cases, and an organizational IT capability assessment.
Phillip is a voracious reader and is typically reading two books at any time - one to learn and one for enjoyment. The best learning book he has recently read is Accelerate: The Science of Lean Software and DevOps by Nicole Forsgren et al. When Phillip is not working or reading he can be found exploring the city by bike with his wife Stephanie or playing board games with friends.
Phillip graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brigham Young University with a BA in Economics.
