Our client had recently gone through deregulation with significant implications to their Technical Architecture. After stabilizing their Technical Architecture to be compliant, they needed a technology plan to help them be competitive in their new deregulated industry. They had also recently outsourced their entire IS organization and needed to minimize costs of the contract. They needed a 3-5 year technology plan that would support the business strategy and help manage the IT outsourcing contract.

Our client had recently developed an initial version of an online, real-time financial trading portal to service its customers via the web. Built using a different platform than other in-house technologies and designed with a limited customer focus, the new system struggled to execute complex business processes and complicated the operations of their internal IT shop. The initial application did not adequately service the customer nor did it integrate with back-office systems, and our client was ready for change.
After evaluating the current applications and supporting technical infrastructure, we developed a new financial services portal tailored to simplify internal operations and fully service their customers. First, we selected a development platform consistent with internal systems to simplify application maintenance. Next, we developed a robust services layer to fully integrate customer-facing applications with Lawson and other back-office systems. Then, we replaced the client’s public website with a content-managed portal system that enabled business users to update web content without IS involvement. Finally, we replaced the existing trading portal with a custom portal built from the same content-managed platform as the public site and tailored to improve the customers’ trading experience.
