Dining Out in Dallas

Pariveda Solutions’ Fins recently volunteered at the first-ever “Battle of the Chefs Challenge” presented by Dining Out in Dallas.  Proceeds from the event went to benefit the foundation’s efforts to raise awareness and support sufferers of Neurofibromatosis.

This year’s event was hosted by Celebrity Chef Blythe Beck of the Oxygen Network’s “The Naughty Kitchen”, and featured samplings from a dozen local restaurants, including Abacus Restaurant, Dragonfly at Hotel ZaZa, Hector's On Henderson, Sullivan's Steakhouse, and Tillman's Roadhouse.  The Frontiers of Flight Museum near Love Field Airport served as the venue for the event.

In addition to a silent auction to raise funds to support the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation, attendees were asked to sample the chefs’ creations and then vote for their favorite dish of the night.  Fins provided support throughout the night through set up, distributing voting materials, and cleanup of the night’s events.

WHAT IS NEUROFIBROMATOSIS?
Neurofibromatosis, or NF, is a little-known genetic disorder that primarily affects the growth of neural (nerve) cells. NF is the most common neurological disorder caused by a single gene.  This causes tumors to grow on nerves and produce other abnormalities such as skin changes, deformities, loss of fine motor skills, learning disabilities and, in rare cases, cancer.  The condition affects an estimated 100,000 Americans nationwide -- as common as Cystic Fibrosis and Muscular Dystrophy.
