For the second year in a row team Pariveda brought home 1st and 3rd place at the annual event sponsored by Microsoft. It is common knowledge that all types of businesses often rely on technology to help them stay organized and increase productivity. Nonprofits are just as reliant on robust technology as any major business, but they do not always have the financial means or necessary skills to take advantage of the latest technology. A community of developers came together to ensure 20 Dallas-area nonprofits received the technology resources needed to succeed.

We Are Microsoft - Charity Challenge Weekend is a software development competition for a good cause. This 3-day event, occurred from January 16-19, 2009 matched developers with nonprofits to create applications for their associated charity. The community of developers came from all different businesses, backgrounds, and had a variety of skill sets. They dedicated their entire weekend to developing websites, databases and other applications for charities throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
“Bringing together our community of developers to help nonprofit organizations was a great joy and something we are all proud to have been a part of,” said Toi Wright, Independent Consultant and Event Organizer. “The Dallas developer community is proud to team up with Microsoft and provide what we can – our IT knowledge – to these well deserving organizations.”
Pariveda had three teams participate in the event which was the most out of any other group in attendance. Our teams had the privilege to design and develop new web applications for Bryan’s House, Texas Discovery Gardens, and Cedar Hill ISD Education Foundation. At the end of the weekend, all of the participants had the chance to vote on their top 3 websites and for the second year in a row Pariveda took home 1st and 3rd place.
